Massey Completes Physical Therapy Tech Certification
February 5, 2008 - Jennifer Massey is awarded a Career Diploma for the completion of the Physical Therapy Aide program offered by Penn Foster Career School. The program is intended to develop the skills and knowledge of the Physical Therapy Aide, thus enhancing patient recovery. An emphasis of study was placed on common physical disorders, commonly prescribed physical therapy treatments and exercise and mobility training. This diploma is an extension of the many in-service and continuing education trainings, which she has completed alongside her supervising Physical Therapist, Ellen Haverstick, PT.
A Physical Therapy Aide is a vitally important part of an effective physical therapy staff. Typically a physical therapy aide only receives in-service training on the job; there are no continuing education requirements for a Physical Therapy Aide.
According to the Arkansas State Board of Physical Therapy Rules and Regulations, a Physical Therapy Aide is able to perform all physical therapy treatments for which he or she has received in-service training, though on-site supervision by a Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant is required. "Jennifer's completion of this program demonstrates her willingness to exceed expectations and to excel at her job," reports Ellen Haverstick, Physical Therapist and owner of Advanced Physical Therapy Center of downtown Conway where Jennifer is employed. "She is a huge asset to our company. She is very conscientious and her skill set benefits so many of our patients. She really knows how to motivate and encourage," Haverstick adds.
Jennifer plans to continue her studies in the area of Functional Fitness, which is an exercise prescription for individuals interested in improving their tolerance to day to day activities.
