APTC Employees Complete Functional Exercise Training
October 3 & 4, 2008 - Ageless Health & Fitness Consultants hosted the Advanced Physical Therapy Center team during a continuing education course called Functional Resistance Training for Active Adults. Mr. Edward Drangle, RPT, STS instructed the course and all APTC members completed the exercise training.
Mr. Drangle is highly qualified and well respected in the fitness and medical community (Read his bio). He began teaching Functional Exercise principles to physical therapists after noting a need for qualified personnel to help active aging individuals reap the rewards of exercise with a reduced risk of injury. He defines Functional Exercise as; exercises in which resistance is applied to normal everyday body motions to promote flexibility, strengthening, increased endurance, improved posture and balance, and significantly increases a person’s capacity to enjoy his/her normal pursuits.
"I am very excited to combine the new information and to begin implementing the exercises into treatment programs," says Ellen Haverstick, PT and owner of Advanced Physical Therapy Center. Jennifer Massey, PTAide reports, "We had a blast learning about the exercises and how they can be applied to anyone at any fitness level! Our patients are really going to benefit from this information."
